AMALFI SERVICESAmalfi Systems offers a number of services that enable clients to accelerate time-to-market for their products. Our engineers have been involved in a wide variety of computer and systems development projects. The following text offers a glimpse at some, but not all, if the services we offer. For your specific project requirements, please contact us so that we can address your specific needs. Network Infrastructure Design Amalfi personnel have a deep knowledge of network infrastructure, having actually designed and coded the switches and routers that comprise most enterprise and campus networks today. This knowledge spans individual vendors and is applicable to Cisco, Juniper, Extreme, and other manufacturers. Our approach does not rely on clients having to choose a single vendor to supply each and every part of the network, but allows competitive bids and the choice of "best of breed" solutions that match most closely our customers' requirements and budgets. One of our specialities is architecting security and trust networks, utilizing a combination of Public Key Infrastructure, Smart Cards, IEEE 802.1x, and Kerberos. Additionally, we have significant experience in IPv4/IPv6 transition technologies. We also offer custom support for Microsoft's Network Access Protection (NAP) architecture for non-Microsoft network devices. Embedded Systems Software Our company has either led teams or contributed significantly to several projects involving the design and implementation of embedded network appliances, such as switches, routers, residential gateways, and set-top boxes. Our people have been involved in the creation of open industry standards (IETF RFCs and IEEE documents) that provide connectivity for the internet. Platform expertise includes Embedded Linux, Wind River VxWorks, and proprietary real-time operating systems. Integration work has included everything from new hardware board bring-up to network and user applications. We can provide a complete, off-the-shelf network subsystem for network appliances that require integration into Microsoft networks (CIFS, Network Access Protection, Web Services) as well as cryptographic subsystems that take advantage of customized porting of open source security toolkits for embedded platforms such as VxWorks and Embedded Linux. Distributed Factory and Industrial Automation Systems Amalfi designed and architected a factory automation system for a large multinational industrial firm. The system was comprised of hundreds of distributed, autonomous micro-controllers linked over a fiber optic network back to a large centralized Unix system for subsequent data aggregation and reporting to operations personnel and executives. Software included everything from board bring-up of the micro-controllers running an off-the-shelf realtime operating system, to device drivers for local analog and digital I/O data collection from the industrial processes being controlled. The interconnection of sensors and the micro-controllers was via multi-point RS-485. The architecture of this system is reusable and applicable to a wide variety of industry sectors and has proven itself in both heavy industrial applications, as well as laboratory simulations. |
